If you’ve been reading the blog for any amount of time, you know how much I LOVE organization! I don’t mind organizing just about anything – something I’ve organized countless times before or a brand new challenge – I care not! Bring it on! But, I have to say, two of my favorite organizing tools are boxes and baskets.
Why, you ask? Okay, so you didn’t ask, but I’m gonna tell you anyways!
1. They’re great for cubbies! (This is from my home office)
I’ve never been a morning person. Not even a little bit. I’ve always been a night owl, and if it was a busy week, I would always opt for staying up late to get things done rather than getting up early to accomplish the same. But the more I did that, the more I realized that pre-planning the night before really makes for a smoother tomorrow!
So, here’s what I do the night before…the night before any particular day, really!
Well, I’ve procrastinated a bit with the Valentine’s Day Holiday Shelf this time, due to the fact that I’m not even totally sure that’s it’s complete! Ever had one of those projects that you had a direction for, but you just couldn’t get it to come together in a satisfactory manner? Yeah. That’s me with this! So we’ll see what everyone thinks…maybe you can help me out a bit with it!
For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about with a Holiday Shelf, CLICK HERE for my original post on the old blog on the matter. And if you want to see last year’s Valentine’s Day Holiday Shelf, over on the old blog, too, CLICK HERE!
My idea for the decor was that I wanted to combine strawberries and Valentine’s Day, because I’m from the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World, and we’re gearing up for berry season right now, which overlaps Valentine’s Day, too…so I wanted to do, “For the Love of Strawberries”. Here’s what I ended up with:
Let’s look at the details…
Some people might have a “To-Do” list. Yep, I have one of those. (Well, more than one, to be honest!) Those are located at my full-time job – my daily list, my lunch list, and my “do this on your way home or when you get home” list!
But I also have a List Book.
Early in life, I found that making a list of things helped me to organize my thoughts, and since I’ve always had lots of different activities going on, it helped me not to forget anything at the same time. As time went on, I ended up with not only a few more “projects” but also the need to condense everything together in some concise form.
Enter: The List Book! Now, no more pieces of paper floating all over creation!
I happen to LOVE Vera Bradley, hence the pretty pattern! And it’s not big – about the size of your average diary or journal.
So, what do I mean by a List Book?
We LOVE music at our house. If we’re not playing music. we’re teaching each other music, or learning new music, or harmonizing with TV commercials and household appliances! I’m serious – we might be just a tad bit nutty!
But especially in the car, we love music.
Every once in a while, I break out an older CD and reminisce about how the songs still speak so much to me. For the past week or so I’ve been listening to Casting Crown’s “Come to the Well”, and one of my favorite songs on that album is called “City on a Hill”. It’s gotten all up in my spirit, too, let me tell you. Hold on, I’m about to get deep, folks! (Well, as deep as I get, ha!)
Have you heard it?
