New Product Tryouts: Pillsbury Gluten Free Cookie Dough

All of the regular readers here know that I was diagnosed with Celiac’s Disease when I was 18 years old, and have lived gluten-free ever since. Back then, it was really pretty difficult to do gluten-free. Not many people knew what gluten even was, and lots of food-related things took twice as long, that’s for sure. As time has gone on, various companies have created products that make living gluten-free MUCH easier! For them I am thankful! And today, I want to share with you about a new item I tried: Pillsbury Gluten-Free Cookie Dough.

Yep, that’s what it looks like! You can find Pillsbury Gluten-Free Cookie Dough in the refrigerated section at your grocery store, right by the regular cookie doughs. They also have gluten-free pizza crust dough and gluten-free pie crust dough – imagine that!

But who doesn’t love a good chocolate chip cookie?! With a glass of cold milk? (Okay, now I’m hungry!)

I like that this dough was in a tub, so if you wanted to just scoop a few spoonfuls to make a couple cookies to satisfy a lil’ sweet craving, the container is perfect!

The dough itself was a little difficult to work with…dry, almost…but all I was doing was putting it on the cookie sheet and pressing it together a bit, so that caused no real issues.

But the final cookie was YUMMY! Oh my goodness! (And my non-gluten-free husband enjoyed them as well, which is always a testament to the product!)

Now, some of you are doing gluten-free and low sugar or even sugar-free, too. If so, then this product is not for you. The first ingredient is brown sugar, and regular sugar is on down the list, too. I personally think there could have been less sugar added to these and they would have still been delish, but of course, that’s why you would make your own cookie dough and not use ready-made!

On that note, I also enjoy experimenting with creating from scratch gluten-free meals, but sometimes, life does not allow for it, and it’s always great to have a backup plan!

  1. As you stated above-gluten free does not always mean sugar free-and as I am a diabetic guess who will not be able to try these out. Too bad–they sound like I might actually like them.

  2. I have not had a gluten-free cookie (at least I do not remember). But I do feel better with less gluten in my diet, so always looking for gluten free options.

  3. I had no clue they made gluten free cookie dough. I would love to have some in the freezer for when my grandson visits. I do not always bake gluten free but he usually wants a snack and needs gluten free snacks. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I was actually just at the store and picked up a small package of chocolate chip cookie dough. I didn’t see the gluten-free one, otherwise I’d grab that one in a heart beat. I’m going to have to look again or go to another store. Thanks for letting us know that this exists!

  5. Thank you so much for this post!!! I have CD & am TRYING to go gluten free so this is great news. I find it really hard to love GF bread so I just stay away from most GF made “bready” products. I am trying to get off sugar too, but this is great for when I’m craving cookies!

  6. This is great to know for emergencies. 🙂 I love chocolate chip cookies, but I’m not a good cookie baker. We just don’t get along cookies and I. 🙂 I actually would probably rather eat the dough anyways.

  7. I’ve tried this brand’s pie crust and loved it! These tubs cost a lot more than I am used to spending so in my gluten free life I am forced to live now, I just do without. I may splurge and get some of these though! It looks yummy!

  8. A lot of products are offering gluten free options now it seems. We have eaten some gluten free cookies from Whole Foods… I can’t remember the name now but they were chocolate with cream filling. It is important to us to make sure all ingredients are non GMO as well. God bless!

  9. I’ve never had a gluten free cookie but I’d totally give this a try. I love cookies and I’m a huge fan of the Pillsbury brand.
